Our History: In 1992, Coach Paul Kobelt and his family moved to New Albany with the goal of helping to create a great tennis town.
There were three weed-filled tennis courts at Harlem Park, no tennis programs and no school tennis teams.

Paul started a community tennis association, public tennis programs and the Central Ohio Jr USTA Team Tennis League, created "Tennis Industry Magazines" 2003 top rated country club tennis program in America, helped the New Albany students launch and organize middle and high school tennis teams and, in 2005, built the New Albany Tennis Center, to provide an affordable and high-quality indoor tennis academy for all of Central Ohio.
Since 2006, New Albany High School has been ranked "Top 10" in Ohio for Boy's and Girl's High School Tennis every year.
In 2013, a New Albany HS graduate became ranked #1 in Men's Singles in all of college tennis. In September, 2014, three players from New Albany, Ohio competed in the US Open at Flushing Meadows, more than from any other city in the USA, and even many countries!
In 2015, 4 players from New Albany won professional tennis tournaments and a New Albany HS graduate became ranked #1 in Women's Singles in all of college tennis! In 2016, 3 New Albany HS graduates broke into the top 400 in the world on the ATP and WTA Tours.

Our KTA / NATC staff has worked together to provide excellence in tennis for 12 years and we are just getting started! Come train with us and dedicated players from Beechcroft, Bexley, Big Walnut, Columbus Academy, Columbus School for Girls, DeSales, Dublin, Gahanna, Granville, Newark, New Albany, Olentangy, Reynoldsburg, Pickerington, ST. Charles, Torah Academy, Upper Arlington, Watkins Memorial, Wellington, Westerville, Worthington Christian, and dozens of middle schools and elementary schools.

In 2014-15, and 2015-16 at least 12 players who played #1 or #2 singles for their sc
hool team trained with us.
Come see why and join in the fun!

Paul Kobelt, USPTA, is proud to be the new Tennis Professional for
the Granville Tennis Club, established in 1948 and recognized as
one of Central Ohio's premier clay court facilities.

In addition to overseeing NATC / KTA's New Albany based outdoor programs, Paul will bring his expertice and enthusiasm to GTC to teach exciting adult and junior programs on their 5 magnificent clay courts.
GTC is only a 15 minute drive from New Albany, is open from May through October and offers a full range of club memberships for incredibly affordable prices:

KTA/NATC is proud to offer the only USTA Certified High Performance Tennis Program in Central Ohio
that is open to the public. We are also the only club in Central Ohio with a proven pathway from Little Tennis (age 4)
all the way to the ATP and WTA Tours. In fact, three of our club pros are currently active touring pros with world rankings
on the ATP or WTA tours.

The skills and research required to accomplish this and everything we learn from our players competing at the pro level
greatly benefits everyone we teach at all skill levels.

Many clubs say they offer High Performance or Elite Junior Programs, but have no actual certified High Performance
coaches at their club and have never produced a world ranked player.
The High Performance designation requires invitation by the USTA National Coaching Staff to
a 50 hour, week-long, High Performance Specialty Course, plus ongoing continuing education. Coach Paul Kobelt
completed his HP Specialty Course in 2003 and has received over 1500 hours of Continuing Ed. All of our staff benefit from
constant training from Paul, and each other, which keeps us all current with "best  practices" in tennis coaching.

Let the Kobelt Tennis Academy Coaches Create a Developmental Plan for You!

NATC / KTA  is proud to have been selected by the world famous IMG Academies / Bollettieri Tennis Academy
to be their only Affiliate Tennis Facility in Central Ohio! Why were we selected?
It took a little over 40 years. Kobelt Tennis Academy has a long history with Nick Bollettieri.......

Paul Kobelt first met Nick Bollettieri in 1968, at age 12, as a student at his tennis academy in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin.
In 1975 Paul had the good fortune to spend a summer working with and learning how to teach tennis from Nick, as one of his
staff instructors in East Hampton, MA. That summer had a strong influence on Paul's coaching style, based on Bollettieri's
expertice in building weapons and developing 10 world #1 players, and has also led to many years of collaboration.

In 1989, Nick introduced Paul to a risng new player at the US Open, Andre Aggasi, and arranged for Andre to test the
unique "Chris" tennis racquet Paul was marketing. In 1991, Nick hired Paul to run his IMG / Bollettieri Tennis Academy in Paris, France.
Upon returning to the USA in 1992, Paul and his family settled in New Albany, where Paul created and ran the tennis program for the
New Albany Country Club for 18 years. During that time, Paul often spent one or two weeks at IMG Academies / Bollettieri Tennis Academy
in Bradenton, Florida learning Bollettieri's latest teaching methods and bringing students from Columbus to the world famous academy.
From 1999-2007 Nick sent 3 of his top coaches to New Albany to conduct 3-day mini-camps and further train Paul and his staff.

In 2004, Paul had the opportunity to show Nick around New Albany. It was with very strong encouragement from Nick, that Paul decided to
pursue his dream of building an affordable tennis club that the whole community could use, and a world class tennis academy for Central Ohio.
New Albany Tennis Center / Kobelt Tennis Academy is the first step in that dream. Thanks for your encouragement and support Nick!
