Congratulations Pete! January 2012: #1 College Tennis Player in America
Peter Kobelt Named #1 College Tennis Player in America (January 2013)! We are so proud of Peter for his amazing accomplishment. Peter has demonstrated that the fundamentals and skills he learned during 15 years in KTA's Junior Program, followed by an outstanding college tennis program at OSU, hard work and dedication, can lead all the way to the top of college tennis!
Congratulations to Teru Greene, NATC / KTA summer instructor, for reaching the NE Regional Finals in doubles for William Smith College. It was the best result in doubles in her school's history and she was only one win away from being an All-American. Peter, Meghan and Teru are all outstanding student athletes who also excell at giving back the sport they love.
Two days after playing on the finals for the National Championships Peter was at NATC teaching our
High Performance players. He will continue to drop in at least once per week as his OSU schedule permitts.
Meghan was one of our busiest instructors during our 2012 summer program and also spent several hours
each week as a student in our HP clinics developing her weapons and helping our younger players improve
their defensive skills.
Teru also prepared for her college season by teaching and training with our summer HP high school juniors
and taking lessons from NATC/KTA Coach Silvia Ebenezer.
All three athletes also attributed a rigorous summer physical fitness schedule as a major factor in their recent success. NATC/KTA Juniors - something to look forward to: As our way of saying "thank you" to our high school graduates
and to continue to prepare them for success in college tennis and beyond, NATC/KTA provides a graduation gift of 4 years
of unlimited attendance to our junior High Performance Program whenever they are back home.
Congratulations to Peter Kobelt (#46) for his huge win over Mitchel Frank, the #1 ranked ITA Division I singles player in the Nation. Kobelt and partner Connor Smith first defeated Frank and doubles partner Julen Uriguen, 9-8, to clinch the doubles point for OSU. Then, in the upset of the tournament, Kobelt defeated Frank, 7-5, 7-6 in a back and forth match. It was the first loss of the freshmen’s collegiate career. The win gave Ohio State a 3-1 lead vs. the No. 2 Cavaliers. Portions of this article courtesy of http://www.ohiostatebuckeyes.com/sports/m-tennis/recaps/022012aaa.html
